Former President John Agyekum Kufuor is 82 years old today, Tuesday, 8 December 2020.
Mr Kufuor was President of Ghana for two terms – from 2001 to 2009.
He is affectionately referred to as the gentle giant.
He is remembered for key policies such as the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), free maternal delivery and school feeding programme.
Mr Kufuor is married to Theresa Kufuor and they have six children.
Kufuor has been honoured with numerous awards, including the Face-of-Good-Governance Award, Chatham House Prize, the Climate Change Award, and the World Food Program's Global Ambassador Against Hunger.
